By May 18, 2018News

Representatives of the VFRSA attended their regular bi-monthly meeting with Minister Logan and Principle Policy Advisory Mia Onorato-Sartari on Thursday 17th May at Parliament House.  This meeting allows the Association and Minister Logan to discuss issues affecting the VFRS membership and any other matters pertaining to the Service.

Items on the agenda for this meeting included:

  • Rural Fire Division announcement and continuing roadshows
  • Location of the proposed Bushfire Centre of Excellence (still undecided although each Local Government he has visited as part of the RFD roadshow has put their hands up to host it)
  • Ministerial Volunteer Advisory Group
  • VFRS Youth Committee
  • Recent Budget announcements that provide some certainty for major capital works, including the ongoing $2m fund for new station builds / major improvements to existing stations and the $8m announced for new stations at Gingin, Margaret River, Northampton and Halls Creek (VFES) stations

The Association continues to have a constructive and positive relationship with the Minister and his staff and that can only be to the benefit of the VFRSA and its members.
